Five Ways Research Can Give Your Brand a Competitive Edge This New Year

Happy New Year!  We’ve been so fortunate to jump into 2024 with a tremendous amount of activity.  Most of the conversations we’ve been having with clients have been centered around how research can be instrumental in helping them and their brands have a successful new year. Research is a valuable tool for PR professionals and marketers as it provides insights that inform strategic planning, help anticipate trends, and guide decision-making.

Here are 5 ways in which research can be instrumental in helping your brand navigate the new year:

  1. Understand what consumers think of your brand. Research helps measure and analyze brand perception. Understanding how your brand is perceived in the market allows you to address any negative perceptions and reinforce positive aspects across your campaigns and in all of your messaging.
  2. Showcase expertise in a crowded market. When brands are all vying for attention across media platforms, including print, broadcast, and social, having insights-driven content is critical in capturing attention and driving the conversation.  Online surveys among target audiences allow you to craft engaging content, communicate powerfully, and showcase expertise.
  3. Know what is happening in your space. Research on the industry landscape, including market trends, competitor analysis, and emerging technologies, helps your brand understand and anticipate the challenges and opportunities you may face in the coming year.
  4. Understand how consumers are evolving. Using research to understand consumer preferences and behaviors can help you understand how these may evolve in the new year.  Insights into changing consumer habits is critical in guiding the development of marketing campaigns and communication strategies.
  5. Measuring effectiveness. Using research to analyze the performance of content and campaigns from the past year allow you to identify what resonated most with the audience, which channels were most effective, and what types of content generated the highest engagement. This information can shape content strategies for the new year.
