I just wrapped up a call with a client. We chatted about how the client’s brand is using AI, a conversation I seem to be having with most of my clients these days. We’re all watching a wave of brands jump headfirst into AI-powered personalization, automation, and optimization.
But here’s the thing no one’s saying loud enough: If brands aren’t feeding that AI with fresh, real human insights, not just historical data or assumptions, they’re not innovating. They’re reinforcing what they think they know.
That’s where good research comes in. It surfaces the emotions, motivations, fears, and shifting priorities that aren’t captured in dashboards. It helps brands connect with real people (not personas that were built 18 months ago). And it ensures that messaging, products, and experiences evolve with customers, not after them.
In a world where AI is generating content faster than ever, the real competitive advantage isn’t the tech. From my perspective, it’s the truth behind what audiences actually need.
Start there. Feed that into your strategy. Because if you’re not listening to your consumers, your competitors will.
